I am writing an ebook. I have MS WORKS. Do I need MS WORD to get my ebook uploaded or is MS WORKS okay?

Some of my friends have said that the new computers already come with MS WORD if they have MS WORKS installed. I just bought this laptop three weeks ago, but see no mention of WORD in the programs. And does anybody know the difference between the two?

Word only comes with Microsoft Works Deluxe or the newer Microsoft Works Suite. If you just have the standard version of Works, it includes a word processor, but not Word.

If you don’t have Word, but want it, you can just use OpenOffice instead. It has a word processor in it that is essentially the same as Word, is compatible with Microsoft Office…and it’s free.

    You can get it here:

A Yahoo search for Microsoft Works came up with some previous Yahoo Answers. If you select save as… rich text format from the drop down menu, the files should be acceptable for upload.
Have you considered downloading the free Office suite from Open Office . org – you get a word processing programme, spreadsheet and presentation programme, which are comparable to Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Seemingly the documents are transferable.
    Good Luck!
