I have PSE6 and want to use add-ons, but will it make my start-up sluggish to import them into the program?

Can I leave the plug ins (effects, filters, etc. that I’ve downloaded) on my portable drive (my Ebook) and still use them? Can I install them into PSE while I need them, then uninstall them before I exit the program? On my old PSE3 I noticed that it took quite a while for the program to load. Someone told me it was because I had several goodies that I had added on, such as EyeCandy and Redfield, etc. I have special fonts on the Ebook then add them when I want to use them so they are not installed in my fonts. That way it doesn’t slow my whole system. Will it work the same way with PSE add-ons. This digiscrapper thanks you for any help and tips you can share.
