What are some good online and ebook resources to learn a programming language?

OK for example I got Sams’ Teach Yourself Java Programming in 24 Hours and that was a nice little primer. I will not say where I got it from but it may or may not have been a torrent site. Can anyone recommend any particular books (for any language) that are good, OR any websites where I can teach myself? Thanks.

    Depends on the language and the stuff u wanna create with that language:
    For Python( easy, fun, and powerful )

    For Java ( robust, very commonly used ):
