What are some sites/programs that have editing/footnote abilities?

I’m creating my first ebook and I’d like to find a program that can help me with professional styled formatting, footnotes and editing.

    OpenOffice.org Writer, it can save directly to PDF, and it is Free/OpenSource software, which means that it’s not packed with evil.
