As far as I know, you need to buy an ebook on ebooks before you can read it. For free ebooks you may try other sites. Just search for free ebooks on any search engine and you will get many of them. Project Gutenberg is a good starting point for free ebooks on literature and reference books.
The ebooks come in different formats. Some could be in plain text which can be read on most of the text editors: notepad, MS word, etc. For other file formats such as .pdf or .lit you need appropriate readers (Acrobat reader and Microsoft reader respectively). You can get these readers from the corresponding software provider (Adobe/Microsoft,etc.)
Adobe reader is available freely and can be downloaded from

    Free eBooks

There are 18,000 free books in the Project Gutenberg Online

    Book Catalogue.

    Good luck.
