I think the best bet is the older version of Kindle, Kindle 1. It is now a hundred dollars cheaper than that of the new Kindle. Read the customer review and you should be able to decide if it is good to get one:

Ebook readers do not differ too much in price. It ranges from $250 – $400. So I think the best bet is the Kindle 1, which is now around $250.
