You may get some help on this writers board run by pros. They have people who can help you get ideas for promotion. Hint--spend as little as possible. Buying TV time, ads online, etc. -- you'll never recoup that money in sales, so don't go there. Running a blog on LiveJournal, Facebook, etc. are no-cost alternatives. The thing is, you've got a LOT of competition who did not self-pub, go to an e-publisher or take their books to PublishAmerica, so their books are in the stores. You've got a hard row to hoe!
