how do i enable disk use on my ipod without wiping the memory?

i want to enable disk use so that i can find the “notes” file to put in a ebook but if i enable the disk use it says it will replace my playlists with my itunes library n i dont want that..

on itunes go to your ipod and on the bottom by the bar where it shows all the memory stuff and options it says enable disk use
check it and click apply and it shoul dwork
