The easiest way to do it is to do your book in MS word or a siniliar program and convert it to a PDF file. Many of the best ebooks online are done as PDF files, the viewer is free for your readers and is usually on most computers.
To promote it you need to have your self a website or you can list it in clickbank and offer it to affiliates to sell for you.
Once you have your book, submit a chapter or two to forums and other free places on line. By offering a free chapter you get peoples interest and then you can steer them to buy the full product.
Submit articles relating to your subject matter to article directories, newsgroups, blogs etc that are relevant.
