What are your favorite books?

Posted Friday, March 26, 2010 by admin

I’m looking for books to read, but I don’t have access to everything.

They need to be either-

Published before 1920

Something my college library would have. They only have books that are meant to be literature, they don’t have fluffy best sellers or young adult.

Or on the New York Public Library’s ebook site.

Thanks for any answers.

The “Anne of Green Gables” books by Lucy Maud Montgomery. They were published in the early years of the 20th century and they were wildly popular. Here in Canada, they are nearly everybody’s favourite. The stories were written for girls, but are enjoyed by anyone, any age. Good old-fashioned story-telling by a very gifted writer.

Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
The Scarlett Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne
    Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy

I know it isn’t many, but I enjoyed all of these books. The first two are my absolute favorites of all time. I read them both my freshman year and read them continuously, at least once a year each. Hope I helped. Good luck.

You can try the Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. I love those books and I think they should have them at the library. Also try Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen I really liked it, even though it was a little hard to understand.
