Suggest you also post this question in one of the categories under the category here “Yahoo! Products” –which includes Yahoo Small Business, Yahoo Web (oh man, I forgot, and would have to start over here, finding you… hmm, it was like launches, partners, sites… a good one) and Yahoo Groups, Yahoo many-things.
All I know about libraries is the Dewey Decimal System I learned working in one many yrs ago, and that they are terrific places. In fact, I bet a call to one would be a way to find out how to legally set up a ’social website’ …for which it sounds like some kind of money is involved?
If not, I think the Yahoo categories will answer properly and promptly. Also if not, I’m not sure what has to be legal about it.
Oh, info about domains is offered too. Is that it? A place to put the social website? I guess I just don’t have enough info to be more helpful, but did my best.
Luck.
First, do not rely on the experts on any computer forum. You do not know if the people have the legal expertise to back-up what they are saying or if they are just blowing smoke. Hire a lawyer who is well versed in copyright law and business law. You are paying them to watch out for your best interests in this endeavor.
You will need to pay for the use of copyrighted material or get the permission of the publisher who owns the copyright.
You have to read copyright laws. You can not have any book unless the author has been dead over 50 years.
Most self help books that old are not that helpful. You could look in to buying ebook rights from self-help authors. You would need to have a copyright lawyer help you with contracts.
