Does anyone know anything about ebook readers like the kindle or nook etc? What about the pc version?

My daughter is addicted to reading and I was thinking about an ebook as a gift or a netbook with the pc version which I read you can get online for free. I’m really wondering if most text books for school can be found on their site too as her backpack is always soooo heavy. I don’t know much about these yet. Are all books the same price? Even text books? I wish publishers would some how make electronic versions of their text books available to schools with the regular books the schools by so these kids don’t have to lug the heavy ones home all the time. Ugh. Any info or advice is greatly appreciated.

I don’t know whether my answer could be useful or not, but I usually download the free available books including story books in the internet and then convert them to PDF format so that the computer can read them aloud. Also, I think reading printed versions are more useful for kids because over using of the computer could lead to different eye problems.
