100 reviews, majority of them from independent readers, all loved my work. The last publisher that rejected me said they liked my work, but as I’m new and untried, plus with the economic downturn, they can’t take a risk. They did think I should approach a bigger publisher directly.
After three years am thinking of giong the ebook route.
Any advice welcome.

I purchased the book from the publisher on September 5th. I always back up my ebooks, but I can’t find this one. The publisher only allows downloads for 5 days after purchase. I can supply proof of purchase for anyone who doesn’t want to be providing copies to freeloaders. Would someone be willing to send me a copy? foresoothidiot@yahoo.com

I am looking for an electronic version of the following textbook:
“American Pageant”, volume II, or volume I and II together.
Preferrably, I would like the most current edition, the 13th, but an
older one, such as the 12th, will do. The publisher is Houghton
Mifflin, and the author is Kennedy. I found an electronic version
(“ebook”) of volume I on the publishers website, but my class is
covering volume II.

I want to start an ebook business much like :
www.fabjobs.com
www.stylecareer.com
Do these websites actually work? Or is it better to get published on paper? Would it be better to just submit my ‘how to’ books to a traditional publisher?

im thinking of writing an ebook containing inspirational quotations. Do i need permission from every publisher/writer? that is a mamoth task (if not impossible) if i have over 150 qoutes. What about quoting people who are dead?
Is there any way around this legal difficulty? what happens if I do quote others without their permission? how will they take me to court if it’s difficult to track me through ciber space?

The ebook piracy thing. What do you think? Is it completely unforgivable, or are there certain exceptions to the rule? Feel free to expand on the question.
It’s a more complex issue than it seems at first glance. A number of authors believe the populatiry of their pirate ebooks is partially responsible for their success. Paulo Coelho even started a website (Pirate Coelho) to distribute his ebooks, believing that it was a good way to promote his work.
One publisher in particular (Baen) likes their authors to make one book available for free, in the hope that people will read the first book in a series online and buy the others.
There’s an ongoing debate about whether the author and publisher lose money (assuming people will buy the book if they can’t steal it) or not (assuming they wouldn’t buy it anyway).
And finally, the real losers in this debate. Textbooks. Who’s going to buy a textbook if it’s available free?
So… comments?
