100 reviews, majority of them from independent readers, all loved my work. The last publisher that rejected me said they liked my work, but as I’m new and untried, plus with the economic downturn, they can’t take a risk. They did think I should approach a bigger publisher directly.
After three years am thinking of giong the ebook route.
Any advice welcome.

I purchased the book from the publisher on September 5th. I always back up my ebooks, but I can’t find this one. The publisher only allows downloads for 5 days after purchase. I can supply proof of purchase for anyone who doesn’t want to be providing copies to freeloaders. Would someone be willing to send me a copy? foresoothidiot@yahoo.com

The ebook piracy thing. What do you think? Is it completely unforgivable, or are there certain exceptions to the rule? Feel free to expand on the question.
It’s a more complex issue than it seems at first glance. A number of authors believe the populatiry of their pirate ebooks is partially responsible for their success. Paulo Coelho even started a website (Pirate Coelho) to distribute his ebooks, believing that it was a good way to promote his work.
One publisher in particular (Baen) likes their authors to make one book available for free, in the hope that people will read the first book in a series online and buy the others.
There’s an ongoing debate about whether the author and publisher lose money (assuming people will buy the book if they can’t steal it) or not (assuming they wouldn’t buy it anyway).
And finally, the real losers in this debate. Textbooks. Who’s going to buy a textbook if it’s available free?
So… comments?

I have been working on this book for years and I am going to spend another fall and winter trying to get it published. What reputable self-publisher would be the most affordable. I do NOT want to do EBOOK…I want real, in hand, copies of my book but as affordable as possible.
Any idea who publised Eragon before it was picked up by..I think Random House?

I’ve been trying to get this book published for over a year now. Someone suggested publishing it as an ebook. Are ebooks for younger kids popular? Will this get any attention from a publisher so that I can sell my next book? Does it cost to publish an ebook, or do I make any money from it?
Any info from those with experience would be appreciated!

I plan to self-publish a book I have written. Yes, I am aware of the difficulty this involves, and while I can try to get an agent and hopefully sell to a publisher, I prefer to handle all facets of my book personally.
Anyway, the book itself is finished. It is now in an ebook (pdf) format and is ready for release.
Do I still need to incorporate as my own publishing company, or could I do it with only my own name?
Thank you for your time, and I will appreciate any response.
